TAL IN SWEDEN FOR THE 9TH GOVERNANCE AND LOCAL DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE ANNUAL CONFERENCE
From 9th to 12th June 2026, Transparency & Accountability Lab (TAL) was honoured to participate in the Governance and Local Development Institute’s (GLD) 9th Annual Conference in Gothenburg, Sweden, represented by our Team Lead, Joe Mapiki.
The conference brought together governance practitioners, researchers, local government leaders and development partners from across the world to exchange knowledge, experiences and perspectives on local democracy, citizen participation, accountability and sustainable development.
Through engaging discussions, peer learning and networking, TAL shared experiences and insights from Zambia while learning from innovative approaches to strengthening local democratic governance and citizen engagement in other contexts.
The conference also provided an important opportunity to build international networks, establish new connections and explore potential partnerships and future collaborations that can contribute to strengthening democratic governance and accountable local institutions in Zambia.
For TAL, participating in global governance platforms is an opportunity to bring local experiences to international conversations while drawing lessons that can strengthen our work at community and institutional levels.
We remain committed to advancing transparency, accountability, inclusive governance and meaningful citizen participation.
Building accountable communities starts with empowering citizens to have a voice in the decisions that affect their lives.
