200 Youths Equipped with Governance and Accountability Skills in Choma District

From September to October 2026, Transparency & Accountability Lab (TAL) has reached 200 young people through youth community engagements conducted in Siamaambo, Batoka, Kulundana and Macha Wards of Choma District, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to actively participate in governance processes.

The engagements are part of TAL’s Activating Youth Voices for Accountability Project, which seeks to strengthen youth participation in governance and promote transparency and accountability at community level.

Through the engagements, young people are being equipped with practical skills to understand their civic rights and responsibilities, engage duty bearers, demand accountability and contribute meaningfully to decisions affecting their communities. The sessions also provide a platform for young people to appreciate their role in promoting good governance and challenging corruption.

The initiative recognises that meaningful youth participation goes beyond having young people represented in governance spaces. It requires equipping them with the confidence, knowledge and practical tools to influence decisions, question public service delivery and hold leaders accountable.

By reaching 200 youths across the four wards, TAL is contributing to building a generation of informed, active and empowered young citizens who can champion transparency, accountability and responsive governance within their communities.

The Activating Youth Voices for Accountability Project is supported by ActionAid Zambia and Restless Development, with funding from the European Union.
